Hello there! We are a group of students from Epsom College In Malaysia (ECiM) who proudly make up the Violet Society, a society which advocates for gender equality with the objective of spreading awareness to others on this world issue which still—to this day—continues to affect our development and progress to the goal of a useful society. Together, we believe in placing both the sexes on a podium where we are seen as equals, where one sex isn’t considered inferior or superior to the other.
“A feminist is anyone who recognizes the equality and full humanity of women and men.” - Gloria Steinem
As a society, we aim to reduce the stigma and shame surrounding feminism and what it stands for. Our main purpose is to spread the right word, the right message—debunking any misconceptions of this movement. We vow to provide a safe space—no judgment, no discrimination, no criticism—for those who wish to share their experiences on being perpetrated against sexism, misogyny, misandry, and everything in between. Gender issues in society are still very common; we are determined to discuss this topic with respect and confidence in hopes of finding answers.
We shall do everything we can to eradicate the idea of feminism and advocacy for equality being taboo in today’s day and age.
The goals are:
Academic relevance:
Benefits of joining the society:
